Romans 4:17

"As it written: 'I have made you a father of many nations.' He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed-the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were." (Romans 4:17)

The Message says so eloquently that "Abraham became a father (at a very old age) because he dared to trust God to do what only God could do: raise the dead to life, with a word make something out of nothing."

In 2008 its time that we trust God to do what only He can do, "make something out of nothing." What obstacle do you have in your life that God can transform or tear down? What addiction are you trying to overcome? Is is drugs, alcohol, pornography, a mean spirit? Do you really want to rid yourself of these impediments in your life? Do you believe that God can make you drug-free, sober, lust-free, and gentle to others?

Abraham did and you can too. This weblog will be dedicated to spreading the transforming word of God through the scripture and various commentaries on the word. Although I am not a Biblical scholar, it is my intention to let the Holy Spirit speak words of encouragement through God's word and wherever he leads me to study. It is my prayer in 2008 that you remember this verse in Romans and trust God to "call things that are not (in your life) as thought they were." Start today with this prayer:

Lord, in the name of Jesus, I believe that you are the Son of God and that you were sent to this earth as a human being fully God and fully human to redeem the world of our sins. I am a sinner Lord and I need you to heal me from my brokenness caused by my sin. I repent and I ask that you save me through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. I ask for you to come into my heart and begin to make me (drug free, sober, lust-free...what ever you want to add here). I ask the God who calls things that are not as though they were to begin to call me free from my afflictions and addictions, In the Name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. Amen
