Give Thanks to the Lord

"Make a joyful noise unto the Lord all ye lands, serve the Lord with gladness and come before his presence with singing. Psalm 100:1-2

How often, in the fast pace of our world, with all the worry and frustration of a down economy and fears of unemployment, do we turn to ourselves and our problems and forget about our Father in heaven who love us? We spend most of our lives chasing after that which, when we die will be lost. We never spend enough time on what matters most to God, serving him and serving others. It is people who matter most to God not our possessions or our pay raises, not out new positions and our fancy cars and big houses.

"Know ye that the Lord is God, it is He that hath made us and not we ourselves, we are his people and sheep of his pasture." Psalm 100: 3

When all is said and done those of us who have received the free gift of salvation from our Father will spend eternity serving Him in heaven. I don't really know what that will be like but I do know that eternity is a lot longer than the 70 or so years that I will live on this planet, chasing material possessions and dreams that will be gone when I am dead. No, I don't want to wait to serve him after I am removed from this world, I am starting now!

"Enter into his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him and bless his name. For the Lord is good and his mercy is everlasting, and his truth endureth to all generations." Psalm 100: 4-5

My prayer. Father in your great mercy please forgive me again for only thinking of myself and forgetting about what matters most to you in this world and the next. Happy Thanksgiving Father! I love you!

Your son,
John

AMEN!
